Symposium 5
Electrocatalysis, Catalysis, Bioelectrocatalysis:
the Common Aspects, the Practical Applications

Sponsoring Divisions:
Division 5, Electrochemical Process Engineering and Technology

Electrocatalysis has traditionally an essential, unifying character within the wide cultural area of chemical reactivity. Its continuous impetuous progress toward newer fundamental and applied targets has prompted the initiative to devote this symposium to its achievements. Fundamentals of electrocatalysis, applications in the different fields of electrochemical process engineering, frontiers of bio-electrocatalysis, heterogeneous catalysis phenomena related with electrochemical processes will be properly illustrated by a number of oral and poster communications.

Topics will include
- Electrode processes: industrial and theoretical aspects
- Electrode materials: their preparation, catalytic activity, wear resistance (service life)
- Catalysis at electrode surfaces
- Progress in non-faradaic electrochemical modification of catalytic activity
- Bioelectrocatalysis
- Environmental applications of electrochemistry
